Every year thousands of Americans go on vacation. Some end up at the familiar Disney World, the always beautiful Hawaii or the timeless Rome. Imagine instead going to an exotic undiscovered place that requires small plane rides or boat rides to even access. Well I have compiled a list of the top five obscure vacation spots worldwide. They each include the element of privacy and that undiscovered feeling; but at the same time they offer their own flavor. And even though I will do my best to describe them, quite frankly you will just have to visit them to see for yourself!
Los Roques, Venezuela: a tiny cluster of islands off the coast of Venezuela. These beautiful islands are isolated (small local plane ride is the only way to reach the island). They offer an exclusive form of privacy; so exclusive that you generally end up being the only person on the beach. This secret paradise has only fifty petite houses (pasados) scattered on the islands and what truly makes it stand out is that it is actually a national park. A marine ecosystem of sea grass beds, coral reefs and mangroves makes it one of the most beautiful natural areas of Venezuela. With only 20,000 visitors a year, this magnificent is definitely undiscovered.

Funzi Keys, India: The Funzi Keys are a group of islands tucked away near the Tanzanian border. The 30 minute boat ride to the getaway provides a taste of the exotic and forgotten nature along the Indian Ocean. The atmosphere is relaxing and informal and allows for an individual to truly unwind. The location is prime because Africa is a step away as well. But what makes this location unique is the natural stone and thatched cottages and the undisturbed view of African scenery. Guests have the freedom to do whatever they please including snorkeling, wind surfing, canoeing and deep sea fishing.

Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri: Although this vacation spot isn’t hard to reach or exclusive for any matter, it is better accessible for the average American. This generally forgotten place is in good ‘ole Missouri and features a beautiful lake for water skiing, boating, fun in the sun and tubing. Living quarters include authentic wooden cabins spread out in a semi-wooded area to provide a private retreat for each family. Each cabin has a living room, kitchen, master suite, and two to three bedrooms more. And if you like to shop then only three miles away is the Factory Outlet mall that has over 100 stores. Whether one prefers early sunrise yoga, fun on the beach, or great American shopping; the Lake of the Ozarks offers it all!

Botswana, Africa: The Chobe Chilwero lodge is located within the deep African wilderness. Its exotic location allows for the usual spotting of African wildlife including wild elephants and giraffes. Fifteen cottages align themselves around the Chobe river with naturally sunken baths and elegantly carved furniture; outside showers are added for an extra touch of privacy. This vacation spot is inviting because it offers a unique view of wildlife, but in an exclusive setting. You really feel one with nature.

Lord Howe Island, South Pacific: In the South Pacific Island, only two hours flying distance from Australia, lays Lord Howe Island just waiting to be discovered. With a maximum of twenty guests, this island understands the importance of privacy and respects the space of its guest. The non crowded, unspoiled beaches with golden sand are just a taste of this getaway. Furthermore, Lord Howe boasts to having the most exquisite coral reefs in the world therefore the snorkeling is priceless. Other activities include mountain biking, golf, tennis, cycling, and canoeing. But why did this spot make the list? If the previous descriptions did not impress you, maybe the fact that the island was developed by volcanic activity and therefore has its own biodiversity not seen anywhere in the else in the world, will. The island has over 130 species of birds, over 500 species of fish, and 90 different corals reefs. This vacation spot is literally one of a kind.
